What We Believe
United Community Church is a congregation of believers that seeks to serve God and advance His Kingdom!
Our vision is to be a spiritual hospital for the sick, a place of nourishment for the hungry, and to equip God people for the works of service.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
THE WORD OF GOD
We believe the Bible is the only inspired, inherent, authoritative Word of God. Inspired by the Holy Spirit it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, by direct act. We believe that man was created directly by and in the image of God.
We believe in one God revealed and manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
GOD, THE FATHER
We believe that there is one living and true God who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and who is worthy of all possible honor, worship, and praise. As Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of heaven and earth, he is inexpressibly glorious in holiness and love.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return for His church and with His church in power and glory.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity whose purpose in the redemption of man is to convict him of sin, regenerate the repentant believer, guide the believer into understanding The Holy Scriptures, and to indwell and give gifts to believers as He wills, that they might minister as Christ would to men.
Although man was created in the image of God, he fell into sin and became lost; this is true of all men, and except a man be born again by the Holy Spirit, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone by saved from sin’s penalty. It requires repentance of sins and confession of Jesus as Lord.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: water baptism and the Lord’s supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. Water baptism is a symbol of the cleansing power of the blood and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38). We believe that the Lord’s supper was instituted as an act of remembrance of the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross (1 Cor. 11:23-26). We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
